SHORTS MUTATE, MEREDITH SPEAKS OUT, SD BLUES

On the previous post re; Naked Shorting

Is this the same Cramer who admitted and that's been documented ad nauseum on you tube about how he planted rumors to drive a stock down? Is that not against the law? And why didn't someone step in and investigate? He admitted arrogantly to the practice... does he have immunity? Who has absolved him if he indeed needs to be absolved? He should at least stop pointing fingers until his hands are cleaned of every wrong thing he's done in my opinion. Ditto for the others...

As for naked shorting, so far it is not a criminal act to naked short, or so I understand… perhaps they can add that to the uptick Bill I just posted on...

WFC calls moved up 2000% today... that's ridiculous!

Anybody see the pop in JPM on divi talk and earnings before the market tomorrow?

Did anyone buy JPM today or step into the other "bad boys?"

Whitney on Bloomberg this AM....

MER has not exactly been transparent about their write downs and Meredith said Thaine has a credibility issue now because of it... hmm… come to think of it they were never very clear about the message they wanted in their advertising either when I worked for them…LOL

Meredith Whitney of Oppenheimer was on Bloomberg this am and said stay away from the financials! All of them... they should have written down all the mess 9 most ago a la GS… more write downs coming - stay away because the equity guy is the low man on the totem.... Bloomberg has turned out to be a wonderful alternative to CNBC - I am out of the inner ego pumping of these TV personalities - it is more soap opera that financial and the data that gets filtered thru the various personalities is absent here on Bloomberg- ti's just tv journalists doing their job and doing it well... I heard Barton Biggs call Rogers silly for saying the CEO’s of FNM and FRE should be in jail…  Rogers came on like a savior when in reality he was covering his short on FNM and FRE... just talking his book... Leavitt also came on and said Rogers was out to lunch...

Ben's tries to calm amid a mirage of excess fear today... overall I think he calmed some frazzled nerves..

(OT... I heard his townhouse on Capitol Hill is now worth less than what he paid for it. Guess he didn't get any special deals… Think they said he paid 800k something for a townhouse, it went higher for awhile anyway...)

I still think he's doing the best under the circumstances and would not vote him off the island... I listened to him today and took some comfort at least in the tone of what was said.
What I did...read the details in the CLF ANR deal....mentally that was important as I have been feeling this market heat like everyone here...Liked to see the price upgrade on CLF... looks like a win-win for all. I also did some research on other alt energy plays... new watch lists…

Did you buy any solar’s today?

I added to some beaten down oils, and added a little MEE... and OXY today... I did see where SD sold some its Haynesville property...this poster on the SD board FWIW ....

"The property SD has in the Haynesville Shale is coveted by three of the major natural gas producers, Petrohawk, Chesapeake, and Goodrich. Chesapeake already claimed some 300,000 acres and is looking to snap up 200,000 more. Look for the SD Haynesville sale to be close to a billion dollars. As you should already know, SD is focused on the WTO, and is not interested in participating in Haynesville Shale. "

I wish someone would un-ruffle my feathers on this market ..is oil going up or down... this info muddle I have a propensity towards when I am trying to understand what's really being said  a sector - shale and the drillers – that’s new for me.

Cheers!
